Day 9 of 1 year without soda.

While doing the dishes, I could smell the citrus lemon of the dish soap and I instantly wanted a Sprite.

I thought about licking the newly clean bowl, but I determined it would give me a lesser if not disgusted satisfaction.

Needless to say, I resisted and I need to get a different dish soap.

Today I bought a pair of men's jeans.

I bought them for the purpose of wearing them for my ceramics class. But they are so comfortable, I am almost tempted to buy a regular pair just to wear...

thumbs up for rock and roll

This little boy is absolutely inspirational. And the song is absolutely amazing. I listened to it way too many times tonight. Allison showed it to me and now she's really regretting it.

Please, I beg of you. Watch it.

I need this song... so bad

strange feelings

I'm a little weird.

There are a certain sensations that I cannot handle. Such as:

Vibrating on my elbows- you know when your phone is on the table and you're leaning on the table with someone or yourself gets a text? It gives me the heebie-jeebies (how do you spell that? you never see it enough)

Poking in the stomach- I am NOT the Pillsbury Dough Girl. Do not touch me there. Gross

Someone's hands on my face- who knows what they've touched or the last time they washed their hands!

Touching the guts of a tomato- it has so many consistencies in one vegetable!

Stepping in water while wearing socks- no need to explain. If you don't hate this, then you're not human

Wearing a sweaty bra- ok, sorry but it's true. Women sweat there! Working out or whatever. It's extremely uncomfortable and an extremely awkward sensation

This is a weird post. I've been in a REALLY weird mood the last couple of days. My new apartment with my roommates are all crazy, awkward, and nerdy. We've been geeking out the last few days, so I've got this constantly-freaking-out energy going on. Anyways, I've been experiencing some of these unpleasant sensations today (not the sweaty bra, which is natural, but still gross...) so I just thought you'd agree. These feel weird.

birthday

Sunday is my birthday.

I'm turning 22 years-old.

My last birthday was kind of a bust. I didn't hear from a lot of important people in my life, which was really sad. But I did get to spend a fund evening with my Disney World girls. So that was a plus.

But this year I'm feeling like I shouldn't get myself worked up for anything. I'm expecting a really quiet birthday. I have one package to open from my mother and two birthday records that I bought for myself, so I'm going to wait to listen to them until Sunday. And saturday night, I'll go out and buy something nice to fix myself for a birthday breakfast and I'll take a sunday nap!

I always give the best birthday presents... to myself. So I'm trying to decide what to give myself. Here are my options: *these are typically the things I wouldn't ask someone else to give me

Bond #9: Fashion Avenue perfume
This was brought to my attention by M. and I'm totally in love with it. Whether it's sooner or later, I'm going to need it because I'm running out of my test sample!
The book: Treasures of the Beatle's
Its a fun history book with replicas of concert tickets, tons of posters and just fun stuff

And then there's this... I just won my first bid on eBay!! I was so excited! I got this beautiful typewriter that comes with it's original case and it's in perfect condition. The bid was cheap and I'm pretty excited. But I don't really count it as a birthday thing. Just awesome...

This is kind of how may day is going... frightening and hilarious at the same time.

Have a good first day of school!

i am a Lady

Something I've had to get used to about California is the blunt stares.

When the men here look at you... they look at you. And they don't try and hide it. In fact, they want you to know they're looking at you.

I makes me sick.

In fact it really just pisses me off.

Who do you think you are to be looking at me like that?! I'm not a pair of legs walking around. I am a Lady! And you will treat me as such... you perv!

Well today it was kind of warm. And so I was wearing shorts as I went to the grocery store. And from the time it took me to pull in the parking lot, get out of my car and walk the way through the lot to the door, these two hispanic construction workers were eye-ballin' me.

I could feel the rage mounting. With each step I took, I felt my teeth clench and my fists balling. I wanted to sock them in the face!

And then do you know what happened?! Do you know what this sweaty mustach-clad piece of slime did?! He had the nerve to hock a luggie right as he was watching me walk by. Well... I lost it.
I stopped right in my tracks before entering the store and started yelling at him: "Oh no! There is NO WAY that you can be looking at me like that and then just spit on the ground right in front of me! I'll have you know that I am an educated, working woman and I am too smart to be stupid enough to go for the likes of you. Does that ever work for you?! Checking out women like they are pieces of meat? Doesn't look like it! You know what? This is just stupid!"

I was just SO MAD!! And he just sat there watching me with his eyes huge! His buddy next to him was completely frozen. Once I'd had my crazy-person rant, I stormed into the grocery store. It wasn't until I was buying my groceries that I even realized what had happened. What was I thinking?! I have no idea. But at least those guys weren't outside when I left. Who knows what might have happened...

I am woman. Hear me roar!

serious thought

I read a poem today called "Our Baby Girl" by an anonymous author.

It was horribly depressing.

It was all about the life of this one girl through the perspective of her parents and how she learned all of the traits of a terrible marriage from the example of her parents:
"look at our baby girl.
she learned to take a hit from a man.
by her mother.
so proud."
... I do not recommend this poem.

It really got me to thinking. I have learned a lot of really great things about marriage, from the couples so close to me in my life. Although I'm not married, and I wasn't raised by a successful marriage, I still had parents and people who showed me the good to look for as I get older.

From my parents I learned: marriage is more than just about two people

My sister and her husband: to trust each other and grow as one person

My brother and his wife: to be best friends and affection

My Dad and his wife: to go on adventures and have each other's back in stressful times

Lisa and her husband: to be proud of your family

Shelley and Dan: to love each other's family unconditionally. You can't love someone unless you love where/who they came from

M. and B.: to be young and look for the future

I'm SO not married. Not even close. But I've noticed that no there's no such thing as a perfect mold for marriage. I've sure seen a lot of different shapes of marriages. And I've noticed that there really isn't one kind that's made for everyone. You just need to know what you want and what you don't want. I'm not looking to get married tomorrow, but at least I know an idea of what to look for.

-The weather is starting to cool down. I love it.

-Two roommates are out of town, so I have my whole room to myself!! ... I will never feel like an adult as long as I am sharing my room with another girl... and sleeping on a bunk bed.

-A little girl called me pretty. It made my day.

-I made homemade potato salad today. Made me miss summer BBQ's with my mother and family friends.

It hurts me when someone I love is hurting

And I can't stop thinking when someone I love has something on their mind

I'm not really big on physical affection. And since I'm not there to give a friend a hug, I'm going to do this:

This was taken by M. My dear friend. I think he really likes trees, because he photographs them a lot.

But what I thought of when I saw this photo made me really think about things that people are going through. This tree looks like just any old tree. It's got knots, the bark is ruff and jagged. But the point of this obstacle and this photo, is that you can always look at it from a different angle.

There's always a positive to every negative. Whether that positive is a lesson learned, a new awareness, or even a success, you just have to look for it.

That's my virtual hug. From California to Idaho. And lots of love

-There is no greater relief than finally being able to go to the bathroom after holding it for so long. I have a bladder of steal, and with that means that I can sometimes forget that I had to go in the first place. More interesting things came up

-I only like Yogurtland. I'm not too big on ice cream or frozen yogurt, but this stuff is amazing

-My best friend Kendall from Disney World is engaged!! Alyssa and I had come up with the order that we believed we'd all end up getting married. Kendall was first. It has begun.

-I have a roommate that talks to herself. All. the. time. And loudly. I don't even know how to handle it. She talks to celebrities that she's obsessed with: Taylor Swtift, the Jonas Brothers, Hillary Duff... granted this is a 21 year-old female. Some times I can't even handle it.

-When I watch War movies (currently watching Band of Brothers) I get more worked up because of the animals than the actual people getting shot

-Today I saw a commercial for Petco and there was a little white dog. I miss Pippin. I was freaking out the whole time :(

I'M GOING HOME!!!!

Just for a week.

I have so much to do! I haven't even started packing and I have to leave for the airport tomorrow... yikes. Oh well, I do better under pressure.

Now I'm just doing laundry and watching Extreme Couponing on TLC. It's making my shopping habits feel really inadequate.

Ugh. So much to do and I really hate flying.

decisions

There are a couple of things on my mind... purchases and decisions

I've had my current bed spread for almost five years now, and although I still love it, I think it's about time for a new one. And I found this one at Urban Outfitters and I really love it. The only thing is that it's almost $80. If I think about the investment angle, it makes sense, especially if I got so much use out of the one I have now. It's just a lot of money... but I love it! I think I just need someone to convince me and help cure me of my shopping guilt.

And then there's these: They are beautiful and SO comfortable. I already have three other pairs of Toms, but these have laces and they're a pretty generic color so they'd still go with everything. I've been getting rid of a lot of shoes; shoes I no longer wear or shoes that are falling apart. And I already know how comfortable they are, so again, it's a good investment... but they're $70...
And then I'm getting my hair cut this week. I'm still trying to grow my hair out but it's been almost a year since my last cut, so I need to get a trim to make it a bit more healthier. I'm going to keep the length, but I want to try something different. New bangs! I love the 60's hair cuts. I want to try them out. The only thing I'm worried about is hating it. I've had the same bangs since junior high, pretty much. So I'm ready to try a new thing. Maybe like Zooey Deschanel. It's a bit more subtle.

What do you think?

I can't stand strollers.

As a Disney cast member with a rough and experienced history of working with all kinds of strollers....

Singles

Doubles

Triple seaters

European design

Cheap Walmart brand

Bicycle attachments

Pieced together

Prams

Buggies

Falling apart

Worth more than my car...

I have learned that I hate them all. They just aren't worth the trouble in Disneyland. Did you know that you can get diapers and changing supplies for free at the baby care centers in the Disneyland Resort? Problem solved. Do they really need all those toys with them? They're in DISNEYLAND!! The whole place is one giant toy! You're child shouldn't need his PSP and Personal DVD player.

And for the record. I was a leash-child. In fact, I had different ones with matching outfits. And matching hats. I say that with pride. And I like to think that I came out pretty well. That's right. I was a leash-child and my children will be leash children.

But until my children are leash-aged appropriate, I will just strap them to my body until they are seasoned.

"Infatuation is when you think he's as sexy as Robert Redford, as smart as Henry Kissinger, as noble as Ralph Nader, as funny as Woody Allen, and as athletic as Jimmy Conners. How do you know when it's appropriate to call someone your best friend?

I've got the two best friends from home. We've been friends since youth (or some level of it) but when you're older and meeting new friends, how do you know when they qualify?

I also never know how to introduce them. What if you come out to say it and you're like "[Blank], this is my best friend [Blank]" and then you're like "WAIT! What if we're really not best friends?!" It's not like dating, you don't or shouldn't have to clarify that kind of thing.

So how do you know?
