I Need!

So if it's not already obvious, I'm kind of stuck on the Beatles right now. I tend to go through these phases where I only listen to one band or musician at a time. Well I'm now running on the consecutively thrid week of my Beatles phase. It might even go further back now that I think about it. In fact, I think it started the week of Christmas. Yeah... that's when it started. In high school on the Senior All-Nighter, I won a Guitar Hero game for Wii. Only problem is that I don't actually own a Wii. None the less, I kept it. My little friend Claire has a Wii and no Guitar Hero (even though she's freaking awesome! Playing with her makes me feel so inadequate. I especially love it when I celebrate for getting on to Medium and being able to use four instead of three fingers, while she's on Expert and using five at maximum force). Anyways... We came across the agreement that she could "hold on to it for me" while I'm at college and Wii-less. But over Christmas break, while home, I rented the new Beatles Rockband. I had the guitar already and the Wii supplied by Claire. Well, I pretty much beat the whole game in a matter of two days. I was obsessed.

The sound quality is AMAZING and the graphics still blow my mind. Heck, they did so much research on this that they manage to find out what they wore at the time of recording for each song! The game goes through the historical sequence of the Beatles career. Starting at the Cavern and ending with the famous final Rooftop Concert. My favorite is the Rooftop sequence. They even added scenes from the videos that were recorded on the roof, for example, pedestrians that were watching from the street, they actually COPIED them right on to the game!! I was so excited, and needless to say, I've been on this crazed obsession for quite a while with no relent. And sadly to say, I think I'll be on it for much longer... I just bought HELP! and Hard Days Night on DVD from Amazon...

I want!

I know this is crazy, but I desperately want an old fashioned type-writer. I've come to love the typography of it and the way it indents paper when you punch the keys down onto the paper. Wouldn't it be perfect for letters or cards? *Sigh*! Plus it would be adorable just to have sitting around as decoration.

My cute sister-in-law lives in New York and she actually FOUND one on the side of the street! It's not very uncommon to find such treasures, you should see the dresser she's found! I'm totally jealous. I suppose I should tell her to keep her eye out of another abandoned type-writer. Ugh! I die!

The Return of Captain EO

That's right folks, Disney is bringing back Michael Jackson. In 1986, Disneyland opened up one of it's first 3D films. It was a story of a singing and dancing Captain EO (Aka. Michael Jackson) and his battle against other non-earthly creatures. There was singing, there was dancing, and there were shoulder pads. It was directed by the famous Francis Coppela (The Godfather) and co-written by our very own George Lucas (STAR WARS!).
The show was originally taken out of Disneyland and Walt Disney World after the rumors of Michael's (first) scandal. But after Michael's death, the public has been demanding that they bring it back.
At first Disney denied that they had any plans to bring it back, but just recently they announced that they would be bringing it back into the Tomorrowland theaters for a short period of time. It will be playing in the same theater that's been playing Honey I Shrunk the Audience for the last twenty or so years. Although, the show will only be playing in Walt Disney World, Disneyland Paris, Disneyland Tokyo and Disney China in a new restored quality.
I wish I could say I was excited for it, because I'm not. I love Michael's music, I've never had a problem listening to the beats of "I'm Bad" or "Just Beat It", even when he was in trial again. But what I don't agree with is all of the glory that's been given to him. When he was alive, people never stopped to give him crap for being weird or out of the ordinary. And people were always bringing out his trials and "preferences". But as soon as he passes away, they glorify him! They make a movie and everyone loves it... I have yet to see it but I'm not in a rush to anytime soon. And now this... did they forget WHY they took it away in the first place?!

Star Wars in real life

Who doesn't love Star Wars? I certainly do. When I saw these, they instantly lit up my life so I hope they do the same you to. May the Force be with you...

I need this...

Oh, the "force" is with him alright...

The Beatles: They Never Let Me Down

It's 2:00 in the morning and I can't sleep. So I went online and I started looking up the Rooftop concert that the Beatles did. Whenever I'm wired or stressed out, the Beatles always calm me down. Their music is pretty much good for everything; working out, singing along with, dancing to, falling asleep to, or even making out to ;D.

As I was driving home from Provo with a friend of mine, we were talking about the Beatles and how there really isn't another band like them. These days when a band changes their style or their sound, everyone freaks out, but with the Beatles, everything they did was accepted (except for the occasional songs like Honey Pie or Only a Northern Song (which is crazy and wild enough to still be awesome in a peculiar way). Think about it, how many different styles can you count that the Beatles went through? The Teeny-Bopper phase (Ex. I Wanna Hold Your Hand), The Mellowed-out/ Find-their-own-way (Ex. HELP!), The Druggie-Era (Ex. Yellow Submarine, Lucy in the Sky... etc. But still in my opinion the time of their greatest creations), and the long-lasting and mind boggling Indian-Inspired phase (Ex. Anything that involves George playing the Sitar).

The Beatles are of a force all their own. Music goes through phases that comes and goes and occasionally something will come back for a while; like ABBA when Mamma Mia came out or Led Zepplin to all those stoners who think they're vinal or hard core. But the Beatles are forever around. People of all ages love and appreciate their music. I'd like to consider myself an incredibly knowledgeable Beatles Fan, but there's STILL music of theirs that I'm constantly re-discovering. They never seem to end and there never seems to be a shortage of new fans. I grew up listening to my mother's Sgt. Peppers and Yellow Submarine albums and I will raise my children with the 'Help' (pun intended) from John, Paul, George, and even Ringo.

Home Sweet Home

I guess when you don't have a home, or even a real place to come home, you start to think about the future. I think about making a home for my self. A place that's my own that no one can take away from me. I think about the family I'll build in it and the strength and security I get from it. Living in an apartment with 5 other girls, we tend to accumulate a lot of stuff. I love the idea that someday I will live in a home where ALL the shelves will be mine. And I won't have to hide food because all the food in the fridge will be mine. I won't have to worry about how fast I get my laundry out of the dryer or who's hair ball is left in the shower drain. I'll be able to just sit in my living room without the constant traffic of roommates and I can even walk around the place in my UNDERWEAR if I wanted!

I like to think of myself as a traditionalist and a modernist. So I like to imagine how I'll combine the two to create a home that shows me as a person. I want to incorporate the things in my life that make up ME. I'll mix the old and the new. And of course, there will be Disney.

I'm a Blog-lover. I can waste so much of my time surfing through other's blogs; home decor, sewing, vintage sites, and one of my favorites, a Disney Wedding blogs. I found some wonderful things and ideas, so I started collecting pictures of things that I liked or ideas that I want to use. So below is a few of the photos that I've collected to create my own home

Happy Valen!

Happy Valentines Day!! I was tired of the traditional card board valentines that are offered by our close friend Walmart. So I decided that this year I would make my own. The only problem with valentine day cards is that there is always the age-old battle of the male vs. female. You can't buy the princess valentines and expect the boys to be happy about them. So I decided to create two of the same but equally acceptable to both genders. I had so much fun with them. Plus, the home-made gift or gift from the heart is much more meaningful.

Happy Valentines Day! I hope your day is full of chocolate, kisses, and chocolate-kisses.
