Change is in the Wind

I've been looking at a lot of home decor websites (my newest favorite was shown to me by my wonderful sister-in-law/ mother to my newest niece/nephew(!)..."Little Green Notebook"). I've got Home on the brain. Anyways, I've decided that I really hate cream/tan walls. It's too over-used and I'm tired of people saying it's the new white.

No, no it's not... White is the only white. The tan kind of blends everything out. In Photographic, it's the "sepia" to the natural eye. But I LOVE white! I love the look of a clean white wall. It brings everything out in a room. Because, when you go into a room, you don't want to think "this is a really nice paint job", NO, you put furniture in a room to be looked at! That's why I love it. It draws the focus to the colors in a room. Don't color coordinate either. Add excitement to the room!

If there's a lot of color then the eye won't focus on the whole aspect. Instead it will take its time to see all the little things in the room... more to look at. If you have a color sceme, then the eye just takes it all in as one, there's no need to stop and focus on the gorgeous new vase or the beautiful vintage couch. Liven it up a bit! You're living in it, so make it alive!

*Oh and grey walls too. They do a similar effect but make the room more warm without the suffocation of tan*

The Art of Man's Best Friend

This is an amazing video of Man's best friend (aka Dogs) at 1,000 frames per second. It is SO heart rendering! It makes me miss my little friends more than you can imagine!

What am I missing here...?

So yesterday was a normal day. I woke up early to do clean-checks and tidy the living room before taking a shower and heading out to class at 9 am.

At the time, everything felt like the ordinary until I bustled into class barely on time. To my surprise, everyone was wearing green. At first, I ignored it thinking it was just my creative mind getting the better of me. But then my next class, there were people COMPLETELY covered in green. What the freak is going on?!

That's when I slapped myself on the forehead with humiliating strength. It's St. Patrick's Day, you dolt! Yup... I'm THAT focused... Oh well. So this is a bit late but I'm going to post it one day late. Here are my favorite things about St. Pat's day...

Bad Day Yesterday? Start the new one with MUFFINS!

Ok, so last night wasn't so good. But I have discovered the perfect remedy to make the next day even better... Blueberry Muffins!!

When I came to school Lisa Tracy sent me a box full of blueberry muffin mixes, only they were kind of bland, so I was a little disappointed. But then this morning I got the most genius epiphany. It needed the crumbly sugar on the top!!

So I made the mix, and then channeling the domestic goddess that is my elder sister, I made my own concoction. One part flour, two parts sugar, and then 2 tsp. of vegitable oil. Then I took a fork and scrambled it up a bit, so it made small crumb-like balls. Then I cooked the muffins half-way and used a spoon to sprinkle the crumbs onto the muffins and let then cooked them the rest of the way.

Drum-roll please... TA DA! Glorious! And they tasted magnificent!

Plus I got my "Hard Day's Night" Movie in the mail this morning so today has been excellent already. Now I'm off to the temple with my two favorite roommates!

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

I'm feeling kind of down today. Too much stuff is going on that I'm kind of a mental mess right now. So instead of facing them or even discussing them, I'm going to make a list of things that make me happy; favorite things.

Childhood Toys (before and after)

Pippin and Wilson (the red ball)

Doris Day and Rock Hudson movies

Showers (someday I WILL own a clawfooted tub)

Wedding Photography (these guys are my favorite!)

All red clothing

Old Cameras (I want a Yashica Mat 124 SO bad)

Jamba Juice! (I wouldn't survive school without you)

I wouldn't survive LIFE without you

Yoga (and yoga pants mostly)

Red lips and matching nails

Uhhh... DUH!! Walt you are the MAN!

I hope you're having a good day. If you're not, then make your own list of things that make you happy. This little exercise definitely helped me a ton. I'm feeling much better. Have a good weekend!
