photo thoughts

These have been piling up on my desktop, so I needed to clean house...

Waldorf and Statler

Ok, I think I could love this kitten

I liked trying to figure out who these people were. I got most of them

I knew I loved him

I plan on doing this, although I don't own any orange books

My future child

Ohmygosh... those ears

"Quick! Hide the books!"

I don't know which is more attractive, him or the camera?

Well, he is, that's for sure

Love the bikini

they say it's your birthday

Sunday was my birthday. Woop. One year older and wiser too.

It was actually really great. I had purposely planned a really low-key birthday. I was just going to relax with my roommates, fix myself a large breakfast, go to church, and open a few packages, and take a well deserved nap!

The saturday before I had planned to go out to dinner with a few friends. M and B recommended Famous Dave's BBQ. Sounded great, so we headed over. The food was delicious, but it was soured by some unwanted entertainment... Bagpipes.

I'm not even joking. What does bagpipes have to do with good ole Idaho BBQ?! It was so loud and they wouldn't leave. Not to meantion that they had to play in every room of the restaurant, which unfortunately were all close quarters. So you heard the same song at least four times, maybe more, since their lack of knowledge of songs required them to play the same song more than once in one or more rooms.

I was not amused.

This was during the second round of "Praise to the Man"

After dinner, we headed over to M and B's home for some cake. B is amazing. She can totally convert you to tuna casserole and she can amaze you with her cake decorating skills. They surprised me with this amazing and delicious home baked cake. It feels great to have such supporting friends of quirks.

Then they surprised me further with the most gorgeous gift. I had seen this many times in Disneyland and in stores alike. I had always been tempted to buy it for myself but I had been lacking either courage or funds. So imagine how touched I was to see when M and B had been amazing enough to find the perfect gift.

I've also been extremely fortunate to have a wonderful collection of friends and family who know me well enough to surprise me with some of the most wonderful gifts. My cute niece and nephews sent hand written cards. There were plenty of sweet treats and thoughtful cards. These are just a few of the bounty I accumulated:

A vintage Mickey necklace. I'm getting really into gold now

R2-D2 decal for my phone. It's amazing!! It covers the entire phone. I'm obsessed.

Photos in brightly colored frames

A vintage Beatles record brought to my by A, all the way from Russia, so everything's written in Russian but I'm pretty sure they still sing in English. I haven't had the pleasure of listening to it quite yet.

So a very happy birthday to me! I enjoyed a great day with great friends and many unexpected surprises. Including coming home to a home filled with balloons and star wars cupcakes! Yum!

Fun fact: the Beatle's birthday song "They Say it's Your Birthday" was in fact written on September 18, 1969. Twenty years before I was born. To the day. It was fate!

i need

I really need this.

It's a book about the Beatles (duh, Holly...). I saw it at Barnes and Noble (may they rest in peace) about a month ago. It's basically a timeline of their history but it also comes with clip outs and fun ticket replicas and all kinds of fun mementos.

I want it really bad. My birthday's coming up, so I can't buy anything fun for myself for the next month or so. Although I don't expect to get it, it's pretty much a law that's been ingrained in my brain from my mother growing up.

I love her make up

And I love his hair!! I want someone with this shaggy hair cut

Originally the black and white version is the one that was published and wildly popular, but I think I really like the color one best

awwww, cute

I always wondered how she did it

I should have been there for the 60's

I love the style of this whole movie. The bold and blunt colors and all the angles. It's fun to the eye

ISN'T THIS SO TRUE?!! I feel like this happens all the time. I'm the type of person that likes to plan for a situation ahead of time and as much as I hate to admit it, I turns out exactly like this

Clever

I WANT!!

She's just gorgeous!

This is DISGUSTING!! I can't even stand this!!! How does she use her hands?! Ewwwww

Clever.

I love Wes Anderson movies. Royal Tenenbaums is a really good one. But Fantastic Mr. Fox is my favorite.
Someday I will own chickens. Not because I really like chickens, or I really like eggs... mostly because I just really love the idea of having chickens...

I can't even express myself here
I just love this whole poster. The red is fabulous.
Fantastic shoot. I love it when you look at photos like this and it just clicks... in case it doesn't click for you: it's the woman from The Birds.

This is my favorite quote from Help! (the beatles movie and my favorite movie ever), expect they wrote John's wrong. He says "Well, you're very polite, aren't you?"

I don't really get what the tabs are on the bottom except they are commonly said phrases from a lot of their songs. Oh well. I still need it.

photo thoughts

I'm a little homesick for Disney's Hollywood Studios in Disney World

For the record: I don't like this photo. When I first saw this, the one thing that popped up into my head was: "Shut up, Winona. We all know."

WE HAD THIS!!! I need to find out who has it! Mom? Shelly?
The other day I met a girl in the elevator of my apartment building. It was a fairly mundane conversation. But when she left the elevator at her floor, she turned and said "Stay awesome!" I was kind of dumbfounded at that random saying.... Yeah... Thanks... I will... crazy hipster

Mind. blown.

This is from the infamous photoshoot where John got horribly sick and ended up throwing up all over every one. Poor man, I feel like this is the climactic moment captured here...

Oh... Pippin.......
